LOSS OF INTEREST:

Depression takes a toll on you. A person suffering from depression loses interest in daily life activities that once they found amusing or pleasurable. The person starts withdrawing from activities, hobbies or sports they used to enjoy at some time. 

 

  • CHANGES IN SLEEPING PATTERN:

Depression causes feelings of fatigue that leads to withdrawal of daily activities and this lack of energy leads to sleeplessness(insomnia) in some people and some might even experience excessive sleep. In severe cases it may lead to anxiety. 

 

  • FEELINGS OF GUILT AND WORTHLESSNESS: 

One might start to feel worthless or may develop feelings of guilt as they start fixating on past life failures and they even start to self blame themselves for their losses or for things they were not able to achieve on time.

 

  • CHANGE IN APPETITE:

It might lead to loss of appetite, i.e.,a person doesn’t feel like eating and eventually loses their appetite and this leads to weight loss. Some might experience cravings for certain food items and might start to binge on food items and this excessive eating leads to sudden weight gains.

 

  • SOCIAL WITHDRAWAL:

A depressed person starts to escape from social gatherings and they even start to disconnect themselves from their personal or social groups. They start to distance themselves from people because of  lack of energy and no self worth. 

 

  • SUICIDAL THOUGHTS:

Depression causes a person to start thinking about ending their life. A person might attempt suicide or may think about commiting suicide several times when something bad happens to them. They experience recurrent or frequent thoughts about suicide or harming themselves.
